Cardamom Latte

It's Guatemala's Independence Day this Thursday, September 15th. We're celebrating our independence with this delicious recipe using local and staple ingredients from our country: coffee and cardamom. Guatemala is the world's leading exporter of cardamom and one of the top 10 largest exporters of coffee in the world.

Celebrate with us and enjoy the flavors of Guatemala with this Cardamom Latte.

Ingredients:
  • 56g of Gento Coffee (about 8 tbsp of coffee - we recommend our Gento Blend or Blend Maya)
  • 8 cardamom pods
  • 34oz near to boiling water
  • Whole Milk (for foam) (we also love macadamia nut milk for this recipe)
  • 1/2 oz sugar cane syrup
Directions:
  1. Grind 56 g of coffee, coarsely ground for French Press.
  2. Smash the cardamom pods to release flavor.
  3. In a French Press, add ground coffee, cardamom pods, and hot water. Stir all the ingredients. Place the top on and allow to brew for 4 minutes without pressing.
  4. Froth the milk to create a foam using a frother. Froth the whole milk for 45 seconds.
  5. At minute 4:00 you are ready to press. Firmly push the press all the way down.
  6. In a mug, add coffee, sugar cane syrup, and milk foam. Enjoy!
