From Guatemala to the World Stage: Gento Coffee Named Among the World’s Best Roasters
How origin, precision, and teamwork led to global recognition
After earning multiple awards at the Global Coffee Awards – Origin 2025, Gento Coffee advanced to the Global Coffee Awards World Championship in El Salvador in March 2026, competing alongside 30 of the most respected roasters in the world.
Through multiple rounds of blind tasting by an independent panel of expert judges, Gento Coffee was recognized for producing some of the best coffees in the world — a distinction based entirely on what was in the cup.
No branding. No bias. Just pure performance.

What It Takes to Compete at a Global Level
Behind every award is a process most people never see.
At Gento, selecting coffees for competition is not about choosing what looks good on paper — it’s about what performs consistently under pressure. Every coffee submitted goes through a rigorous internal process led by the Gento Coffee Roasters and Quality Lab team.
Each lot is:
- Carefully selected based on quality and expression of origin
- Roasted and tested across multiple roasters
- Dialed in through repeated cuppings
- Refined to achieve clarity, balance, and consistency
From development time to final flavor clarity, every variable is intentionally controlled.
Not every coffee makes it.
Only those that hold up across multiple tastings and truly represent the character of Guatemala are selected to compete.

Why These Awards Matter
The Global Coffee Awards are designed to reflect real-world performance.
Coffees are evaluated across formats, from filter to espresso to milk-based drinks, ensuring that what is not just exceptional in theory, but consistent in practice.
For Gento, this recognition reinforces a core belief:
Coffee roasted at origin can compete with the best in the world.
A Team Effort, Rooted at Origin
These results are not the work of one person or one moment — they reflect the collaboration between:
- Producer partners across Guatemala
- The Quality Lab team
- Roasters working at origin
- And everyone involved in bringing each coffee from farm to cup
From the volcanic soils of Fraijanes to the high-altitude farms of Huehuetenango, each coffee represents a network of people committed to quality.

Looking Ahead
Being recognized among the world’s best is not the end goal — it’s the standard moving forward.
Gento Coffee will continue to:
- Explore new processing methods
- Expand microlot offerings
- Strengthen relationships with producers
- Refine roasting techniques at origin
Final Thought
In a competition where nothing but the cup matters, Gento Coffee stood among the best in the world.
And it all starts at origin.
