Finca Satchibahl – Washed Bourbon, Huehuetenango, Guatemala
Exceptional coffee born from tradition, resilience, and precision—crafted by one of our most inspiring producer partners.
High in the mountains near Jacaltenango in Guatemala’s renowned Huehuetenango region, Finca Satchibahl sits at 1,800 meters—just five acres of land, yet rich in purpose. The name “Satchibahl”, meaning “the fruit of the tree”, reflects the farm’s deep-rooted connection to both land and lineage.
Established more than 20 years ago by her mother, the farm is now led by Petrona Perez, a determined and passionate young producer who took charge at a remarkably early age. Under her leadership, this small family farm has become a beacon of craftsmanship, consistency, and care, producing coffees that stand out vintage after vintage.
We first met Petrona over five years ago at a farmer empowerment workshop. From our very first tasting, we were struck by her unwavering dedication and the exceptional quality of her coffee. Today, she remains one of our closest producer partners.
This washed Bourbon lot is a reflection of her meticulous, hands-on approach. Every step—selective picking, hand-pulping, controlled fermentation, and careful patio drying—is done with the intent to preserve sweetness, balance, and a transparent expression of terroir.
Beyond flavor, this coffee represents something bigger: a woman-led farm reclaiming value in the supply chain. With Gento’s quality-based premiums and stable pricing, Petrona has moved from selling below cost to building a more secure future for her family.
Tasting this coffee means tasting generational knowledge, mountain-grown clarity, and the fierce determination of one woman who never stopped believing in the fruit of her work.
